Exchange Transport Service Fails to Start

After moving the Exchange Queue Database, the Transport service fails to start and you receive the following error in Event viewer.

To resolve this error, we need to make sure that the folder where the new Queue DB is located has the correct permissions.

The folder for the queue database and transaction logs needs the following permissions:
  • Network Service: Full Control
  • System: Full Control
  • Administrators: Full Control

Viewing the current permission, I can see that the Network Service permission is missing.

Permissions After:

Once the permissions have been added and applied, run the following to start the Exchange Transport service again.

Once the change to the permissions has been made the Transport service will start again.
