Exchange Deployment Assistant Quick Overview

Exchange deployment tool creates a custom step by step checklist to help you deploy Exchange in different types of scenarios.

The tool can be found Here.

Click on Launch the Deployment Assistant.

From the next screen you will have 3 different options to choose from On-Premises ,Hybrid ,Cloud Only. Details about each scenarios can be found here as well.

Let’s have a look at On-Premises assistant. With this deployment assistant you can choose to deploy Exchange 2010 , 2013 and 2016 on-premises.

Let’s go ahead and select Deploy Exchange 2016.

On the Next screen you can choose from Multiple Scenarios for the version of Exchange Deployment selected.

For the demo i will select “New Deployment of Exchange 2016” and click “Next”

The tool will start asking questions related to your environment starting by “Are you running a Disjount NameSpace”. 

What is a disjount namespace : Find Here

Lets Go ahead and select “Yes” and then click “Next”

For those customers using “Public Folders” you can select “Yes” and then Click “Next”. for this demo i will click “No”.

On the “Next” screen you will be asked if you will be deploying a “Edge Transport Server” , for this demo i will go a head and select “Yes”.

On the Next screen you will see and overview of type of questions related to the type of deployment you want.

Click on “Next” to get an Overview of the Roles and requirements for Exchange 2016 so you have an understanding of what is required.

Click on “Next” review all needed “Prerequisites”. Click “Next” to start with the “Collecting information” section.

This section covers you “Internal and External URLs” which will be used for “Autodiscover etc.”

The “Next” section will cover “disjoint namespace Configuration” , here you will receive steps on how to configure “DNS Suffix Search List” once done click on “Next”.

On the next screen you will continue with “Configuring the Edge Transport Server”

On the next section you will move on to “Installing Exchange 2016” .

Next you will continue with “Installing Edge Transport Server Role”.

On the next screen you will go ahead with configuring the “Office Online Server” , in this section you will find out how to configure “Endpoint at Mailbox level and Organization Level”.

Moving on you will continue with “Configuring Services”. ie “Accepted domains and Urls”

Continue by reviewing the “Accepted Domains” options and how to configure.

Next you can continue with “Default email address Policy”.

Next continue with “Exchange 2016 External Url”

followed by “Exchange Internal Url , Certificates and Edge Transport Server”

Lastly the tool will go through the “Post-Installation tasks” needed. In this section you can go though options like “High Availability , Permissions and Public Folders”.

Once you have through the “Post-Installation tasks” you can click “Next” and Complete the Checklist .

On the “Complete Checklist “ screen you can find some helpful  tools like Remote Connectivity Analyzer.

On top of the screen you will have an Option to “Print the Checklist” to keep for future use.

 

This is a very useful tool for Deploying Different Types of Exchange Scenarios.
